Sharing your passion with your child is a precious gift. For Rory and Joey Feek, their daughter Indiana “Indy” Feek has been a part of their music journey since she was just a newborn. As Rory performed on stage, Indy would join him, creating unforgettable memories.
Tragically, Joey lost her battle with cervical cancer when Indy was only two years old. However, the love for music continues to bond Rory and Indy.
Recently, Indy expressed her desire to perform with her father, and Rory wholeheartedly agreed. Excited about this opportunity, Rory knew the perfect song to perform. A song he had loved for years – Shel Silverstein’s “Daddy What If.”
Rory had previously taught the song to his oldest daughter, Heidi, when she was little. He carefully wrote down the lyrics and made modifications so that Indy could sing along. Instead of “Daddy,” he changed it to “Papa” since that’s what Indy affectionately calls him.
Indy put in her utmost effort to learn and practice the song. And when the time came for their performance, she was brimming with pride and joy. Singing a real song with her Papa made her incredibly happy.
