TEXAS TOAST WITH CHEESE

The BEST semi-homemade Texas Toast With Cheese combination includes garlic, Parmesan, mozzarella, and provolone on buttered bread.

My family likes this semi-homemade Texas Cheese Toast, which is simple to prepare and goes well with pasta dishes or a delicious piece of meat.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons grated Parmesan 4 tablespoons melted butter

a half teaspoon of garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 cup shredded mozzarella

6 provolone slices

6 Texas toast slices or other thick slices of bread

Optional garnish: 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley

Making TEXAS TOAST WITH CHEESE

It is optional to lightly toast the bread before applying the seasonings. Toasting makes bread crunchy; missing this step keeps bread soft.

Melt butter and add Parmesan, oregano, and garlic powder to taste. Combine thoroughly.

Arrange bread in a single layer in an air fryer basket or baking sheet. Spread the mixture evenly over the bread slices.

Distribute the mozzarella cheese equally over the toast. To each slice of toast, place a piece of provolone.

Place in an Air Fryer at 350°F for 5 minutes or in a convection oven at 375°F for 6 – 7 minutes, or until cheese is melted.

Serve garnished with parsley if desired.

Notes: This recipe uses day-old bread from the bargain rack to save money.

Garlic toast is reheated quickly and easily in the toaster oven.
