Amanda Cox, a dedicated preschool teacher, is always looking for creative ways to provide resources for her students. However, due to the lack of government funding, she often faces challenges in acquiring the necessary materials.
One day, as Cox was distributing pencils to her students, she realized that she didn’t have enough for everyone. Thankfully, there was a little boy in her class who always had extra pencils. Cox approached him and asked if she could borrow some of his pencils for the other students, to which he agreed, but with one condition – the pencils needed to be returned by the end of the day.
As Cox started sharpening the pencils, she noticed that they were covered in red writing. These messages turned out to be inspiring affirmations, reminding the boy of how special and unique he was. Cox was not only touched by these messages but also inspired by them. Each pencil was adorned with words like “You are so talented,” “This will be a great year,” and “You are creative.”
Curious to see if all of the boy’s writing utensils were the same, Cox inspected his other pencils. To her delight, she discovered that each one was marked with an inspiring message. Messages like “Never give up,” “You can do this,” and “You are very knowledgeable” adorned the rest of his pencils.
It was evident that the boy’s parents had taken the time to make his pencils extra special. Cox realized that this child was deeply loved and that his parents wanted him to succeed in school. Moved by this gesture, she decided to share a picture of the pencils on Facebook, highlighting how these simple affirmations had a positive impact on the boy’s life.
