Flight Attendant Saves Young Girl from Dangerous Situation

When a man and a teenage girl boarded a flight from Seattle to San Francisco, Alaska Airline flight attendant Shelia Frederick became suspicious. The man appeared well-dressed, while the girl seemed uneasy and avoided making eye contact with anyone. Shelia couldn’t shake off her concern for the girl and decided to take action.

During the flight, Shelia discreetly tried to make eye contact with the girl while serving snacks to passengers. She confided her suspicions to a colleague and together they devised a plan to distract the man. Shelia handed a piece of paper and a pencil to the girl, locking the plane’s bathroom and leaving it for her to find.

Thankfully, the girl took the opportunity to excuse herself to use the bathroom. Shelia kept a close watch on the man while the girl was inside. To Shelia’s relief, the girl responded to the note by writing, “I need help.” Shelia alerted the pilot, who immediately informed ground control to coordinate assistance upon landing.

Shelia’s actions saved the young girl from a potentially dangerous situation. She later kept in touch with the girl and learned that she is now attending college. Shelia’s bravery and quick thinking serve as an inspiring example to all of us.
