Drag Racing Star Tragically Passed Away At 33

Oh joy, another reminder that life is a relentless, unforgiving beast that enjoys taking the good ones way too early. Many are reeling after the tragic passing of Lizzy Musi, the beloved star of the show “Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings,” who left us at the way-too-young age of 33.

Just when you think you’ve seen it all, life throws a curveball that makes you want to punch a wall and scream into the void. Lizzy was battling stage IV breast cancer, a fact revealed with grim acceptance by her father on a sad day, June 27.

In a gut-wrenching Facebook post, he shared: “Surrounded by her family, in the comfort of her own home, Lizzy was called to heaven at 11:25pm tonight. Thank you for all the prayers and support throughout her battle. At this time, the family would like to have time to process, grief [sic] and make arrangements in peace. We will give an update as soon as we have information to share.”

As if the universe didn’t have enough salt to rub in our wounds, her battle with breast cancer was first made public last year in one of those ominous yet necessary Instagram posts.

The dreaded year of 2023 brought the inescapable diagnosis: triple-negative stage 4 breast cancer. That’s basically a death sentence wrapped in medical jargon, considering the cancer had already made itself quite comfortable in her liver and lymph nodes.

Through it all, Lizzy took it like a champ. She got candid about the vast array of treatments she endured, because why not spill your guts to the world when they’re already halfway out? She even flew to Germany for some avant-garde treatment specifically aimed at her liver. Desperate times call for desperate measures, but alas, the cruel joke of existence had other plans.

Lizzy’s fame rocketed when she starred alongside her father Pat in Discovery Channel’s “Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings.” Fast cars and daring races became her trademark, along with a slew of Pro Street World Championships she could likely flaunt in the afterlife.

Rest in peace, Lizzy. Heaven better have a racetrack.
