A beloved member of the Star Trek and Marvel universes has sadly passed away. On February 25, the family of actor Kenneth Mitchell released a statement confirming his passing. Mitchell, who battled ALS for the last five years, was just 49 years old.
“With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Kenneth Alexander Mitchell, beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, son, and dear friend,” the statement began. “Ken was widely known as an actor in many films and television shows.”
Kenneth Mitchell is known for his various roles, including an Olympic hopeful, an apocalypse survivor, an astronaut, a superhero’s dad, and four unique Star Trek characters. He is survived by his wife, fellow actor Susan, and their two young children, Lila and Kallum.
Alongside his acting career, Mitchell had a deep love for nature, cats, the beach, and movies. He enjoyed giving gifts, sending notes, gardening, and watching sports. But above all, he was a proud father.
“Ken was the keeper of countless friendships. Like a massive star exploding with kindness, purity, and a particular brand of silly, you were pulled right into his orbit. Once captured, Ken could bathe you in positivity, thoughtfulness, and hilarity, and make you feel so loved. He absolutely loved to laugh.”
In memory of Kenneth Mitchell, his family included a GoFundMe link in their statement, encouraging people to donate to ALS research. Let’s honor his legacy by supporting this cause.
