Progressive Democrat Representative Ilhan Omar, a member of the so-called “squad” of elected women of color, believes Tara Reade’s accusations against Biden. Despite Biden’s twisted past, Omar has made it clear that she will be casting her vote for him in November and doing everything in her power to get him elected. She stated, “I do believe Reade. Justice can be delayed, but should never be denied.”
As a first-term representative, Ilhan Omar has risen to success alongside her colleague Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. While Omar believes Reade’s assault allegations against Biden, she still believes that Biden is the better choice compared to Trump, whom she sees as a greater threat.
Tara Reade’s story is harrowing. She claims that Biden assaulted her in his Senate office in 1993, pinning her against a wall and digitally assaulting her. Reade describes this as an abuse of power that she has never gotten over. However, Biden vehemently denies these allegations and has urged people who believe Reade not to vote for him.
Ilhan Omar took to Twitter to express her views on Biden and Reade’s allegations. She acknowledges that it is a difficult position to be in, but ultimately believes that, with Trump in office, the future of America is bleak. She tweeted, “Believing survivors is consistent with my values. Yes, I endorsed against Biden, and I didn’t pick him as our nominee. With that said, I will vote for him and help him defeat Trump.”
While Reade’s allegations have garnered attention, she herself is facing challenges. Her lawyer has dropped her case due to potential inconsistencies in her educational background. Douglas Wigdor, who has represented victims of serial rapists and sexual predators like Harvey Weinstein and Bill O’Reilly, did not provide a statement regarding why his firm is no longer representing Reade.
Additionally, Lawyer Roland Soltesz revealed flaws in Reade’s character during a 2018 case for attempted murder, where she wanted to qualify as an expert witness on domestic violence. Reade cited her experience in Biden’s office as part of her qualification. Despite these challenges, Reade has been seen as a credible witness in past cases.
