When looking for a new pet, adopting from a shelter is always the best choice. It’s a chance to provide a loving home to a homeless or abandoned animal. And sometimes, when you rescue an animal, they rescue you in return. That’s exactly what happened to Robert McGowan when his adopted pit bulls stepped up and saved the day.
Robert found two pit bulls, named Ellabelle and Ladybug, in a local shelter. These dogs had endured a rough life and had been abandoned. Unfortunately, pit bulls often end up in shelters due to their unjust reputation as aggressive dogs. However, Robert looked past this stigma and opened his heart to these loving canines.
In a recent incident, the true character of Ellabelle and Ladybug came to light. One night, Robert found himself in a dangerous situation when four strangers attacked him in his own garage. They demanded his car keys and assaulted him, leaving him with a black eye. But little did the assailants know, they were about to face an unexpected defense.
Suddenly, the two pit bulls sprang into action. They vigorously barked and chased off the attackers, protecting their owner. “They chased them out,” Robert shared. “My girls ran into the garage and stood over me. They stood there barking, making it clear that no one was going to hurt me anymore. The four people took off.”
These heroic dogs proved that their loving nature outweighed any stereotypes associated with their breed. Despite their docile and friendly demeanor, Ellabelle and Ladybug were ready to defend their beloved owner when faced with a threat.
Robert’s story serves as a testament to the loyalty and love of rescue dogs. It’s easy to imagine what could have happened if he hadn’t given these pit bulls a chance at a better life.
