CABBAGE FRIED WITH BACON, ONION, AND GARLIC

This is a family favorite that I include in every cookbook for my children when they go away and marry. It’s a colorful, flavorful dish with a lot of color. It is highly addicting.

Ingredients
6 bacon slices, chopped 1 large onion, diced 2 garlic cloves, minced 1 large head cabbage, cored and sliced 1 tablespoon salt, to taste
1 teaspoon black pepper, ground
a half teaspoon onion powder
a half teaspoon garlic powder
paprika, 1/8 teaspoon

Making Fried Cabbage with Bacon, Onion, and Garlic
Cook the bacon in a large stockpot over medium-high heat for 10 minutes, or until crispy. Cook, stirring constantly, until the onion caramelizes, about 10 minutes. Stir in the cabbage immediately and continue to simmer and stir for another 10 minutes.

Add salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika to taste. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and continue to cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Tip:

Aluminum foil keeps food wet, guarantees consistent cooking, keeps leftovers fresh, and simplifies cleanup.
