Sweet and salt is one of our all-time favorite flavor combinations. So we were immediately fascinated when we heard about these Salted Caramel Cracker Bites.
They’re similar to the famous Christmas cracker candy, but without the chocolate (letting the caramel shine!) and with bite-sized oyster crackers instead of saltines. That means they’re even more tasty and hazardous… in the best manner possible!
INGREDIENTS
1 packet 9oz oyster crackers
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
1 pound brown sugar
2 tsp. vanilla extract
12 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon sea salt
PREPARATION: Making Salted Caramel Cracker Bites
Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Spread crackers into an equal layer on parchment paper.
Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, then mix the brown sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon until dissolved.
Bring the mixture to a boil while stirring constantly. Cook the bubbling liquid for another 2-3 minutes or until it thickens and lightens in color.
Remove from heat and pour over crackers right away. Mix the caramel into the crackers until they are evenly coated—season with salt to taste.
Bake for 7-9 minutes, careful not to burn the caramel.
Allow the crackers to cool before breaking them up into little clusters. Could you keep it in an airtight container?
