A Kind Story That Proves a Little Sympathy Goes a Long Way

One day, I was working at a fast food restaurant when a lady left her Louis Vuitton bag on the table. After waiting for about 20 minutes and seeing that she had departed, I decided to grab the bag and put it in the lost and found. I didn’t even peek inside. A whole month went by.

One day, my manager asked, “Hey, it’s been a month…do you want that bag?”

I said yes and went to the back to get it. When I opened the top, to my surprise, there was nothing inside but a piece of paper.

The piece of paper turned out to be a receipt for the bag.

On the receipt, there was a message that read, “To the girl who needed a new purse during the holidays.”

It dawned on me that this lady had planned this all along. I looked at the receipt—$1700 for this bag!

I carefully packed my things into it, took it home, and never mentioned it again. That purse made me feel polished in many job interviews.

I still have the bag because it reminds me of those humble days when I didn’t have much. It also motivates me to give back to others.
