Caught On Camera: Teens Surround Injured Elderly Man Who Was Alone

When five teenage boys spotted an elderly man walking alone, they immediately approached the helpless gentleman. Little did they know, a watchful neighbor had fortunately caught them on camera.

In the small town of Caldwell, Idaho, it’s hard to go unnoticed. So, when Erika Tovar was driving down the street and saw a group of teen boys rush out of their vehicle to approach Jose Gomez, she quickly recorded what she saw.

The five boys reportedly noticed Gomez walking with his walker before they pulled over, got out, and went over to the senior citizen. Tovar recorded their actions, intending to get them recognized for their deeds.

Despite using his walker, Gomez had fallen on the concrete, injuring his leg, which the teens had noticed. Seeing this, the boys pulled over, jumped out, and hurried to assist him. They helped Gomez up, escorted him home, and tended his wounds.

Gomez had apparently fallen just before the boys spotted him. Besides a bruised ego, he suffered a bloodied knee. With no way to get up and walk without further injuring himself, Gomez was relieved when young heroes arrived. These high schoolers were Victor Ornelas, Isaac Hernandez, Diego Ramirez, Devan Ornelas, and Josh Sorg, as reported by KTVB.

“I saw he fell, so I hit the brakes,” Hernandez recounted. “We parked, all ran out, helped him up, and asked if he was okay. He said yes, so we decided to walk him home. We helped him inside, saw his knee was bleeding, and cleaned it up.”

Gomez was astonished as the teens gathered around to help him. He felt immense gratitude when they offered assistance and took him to his apartment, preventing another fall.

“I just fell and didn’t know what happened,” Gomez shared. “They picked me up, and as they offered to take me home, I felt good about it.”

Neither Gomez nor his young helpers knew Tovar was recording. Her video, shared on Facebook, went viral and drew much praise. However, the teens insisted they didn’t seek recognition and were simply doing the right thing.

“It’s crazy how it went viral. We didn’t do it for attention, just out of kindness,” Hernandez said.

In an age of grim news, the Caldwell community wanted to honor their hometown heroes. Kathy Plaisance organized a small ceremony at Sweet Spot Bakery, gifting them with local business gift cards.

“We got them cupcakes and cookies with their names and ‘hometown heroes’ on them. That’s how we feel about them,” Plaisance said.

Gomez thanked the boys, saying, “They remind me of myself when I was younger.” The teens plan to continue checking on Gomez.

“He likes us visiting and chatting with him,” Hernandez mentioned.

The boys are modest about the attention, believing everyone should care for others without expecting anything in return.

“It feels good helping others… without expecting anything back,” Hernandez said.

In times dominated by bad news, it’s heartwarming to see such kind acts, particularly when they come without seeking rewards. This spirit truly deserves applause.
