Migrants form ‘constellation’ of tents outside of mega shelter in New York City: report

Gov. Tim Walz ‘championed free healthcare’ for illegal migrants: Stephen Miller

Panelists Katie Pavlich and Stephen Miller discuss how Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has been a proponent for illegal migrant benefits on ‘The Ingraham Angle.’

Migrants were ejected from an island mega shelter in New York and set up a “constellation of tents” of encampments outside of it, according to a recent report. Many of those living in these makeshift shelters shared their stories with The City, describing how they ended up there after being forced to leave Randall’s Island shelter once their 30-day living term expired. The area has since grown into an encampment that houses thousands of adult migrants.

“We don’t have anywhere else to go,” Guillermo Contreras told The City. He is one of many who have been living along the East River bank, where around 20 tents and makeshift shelters are set up. Migrants without tents use tarps, black trash bags, inflatable mattresses, camping mats, or even cardboard to sleep on.

The City’s report highlights the struggles faced by these individuals. The living conditions are tough, especially under adverse weather conditions. Rain often soaks through tents and clothing, making life even more difficult. For instance, Stefano Pachon Romero, a 24-year-old, shared how he has been sick due to the harsh conditions. His time in the shelter expired, and despite trying to return, he was denied access and has been living in a park for five months.
