Ewen MacIntosh was last seen in a heart-wrenching post on social media, where he shared his struggles with a health problem. Concerned fans quickly sent him messages of support and well wishes. Max Rushden of talkSPORT tweeted, “Sending you all the best, mate x,” while actress Holli Dempsey, who worked with Ewen in “After Life,” wrote, “Sending love and healing vibes to ya Ewen xx.”
Fans were overjoyed when Ewen made a cameo appearance on “After Life” just a month before his passing. His portrayal of “Buffet Man” was a nod to his beloved character Keith from “The Office,” known for his dull office chats and love of Scotch eggs. In a statement released by his management, JustRight Management, it was confirmed that Ewen MacIntosh passed away peacefully. The statement expressed gratitude to everyone who supported Ewen, particularly Willow Green Care Home. The family plans to hold a private cremation for close friends and family, followed by a celebratory memorial later in the year.
Many have paid tribute to Ewen MacIntosh, including his dear friend Ricky Gervais, who tweeted, “Very sad news. Ewen MacIntosh, who many people knew as ‘Big Keith’ from The Office, died. He was very funny and very nice. An absolute original. RIP.”
Ed Scott, CEO of Dodged A Bullet Music and another close friend of Ewen’s, shared his devastation at the loss. He described Ewen as kind, honest, and empathetic, emphasizing that the person inside was what he would remember most.
On social media, numerous tributes to Ewen and his unforgettable role as Keith in “The Office” flooded in. Fans expressed their sadness at the news and celebrated Ewen as a comedic genius and an important part of the best British sitcom ever.
Keith, Ewen’s sarcastic accountant character, captured the hearts of fans with his witty scenes, such as dressing up as Ali G and his famous obsession with Scotch eggs. Despite the changes in the fictional Wernham Hogg paper company, Ewen remained a constant presence until the show’s last episode in 2003.
Reflecting on his character’s love for Scotch eggs, Ewen humorously shared in an interview, “The props guy nipped out and bought them last minute.” His comedic talent extended beyond “The Office,” with appearances on shows like “Miranda” and “Little Britain,” as well as performances at the 2007 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
