Tito Jackson’s three sons, Taj, TJ, and Taryll, are mourning the loss of their beloved father, who passed away at the age of 70. In a joint statement posted on their band 3T’s Instagram account, the siblings expressed their shock, sadness, and heartbreak over this devastating news.
“Our father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson, was an incredible man who genuinely cared about everyone and their well-being,” they wrote. “Whether you knew him as Tito Jackson from the legendary Jackson 5, ‘Coach Tito,’ or ‘Poppa T,’ his presence in our lives will forever be deeply missed.”
The heartfelt tribute was accompanied by a series of photos showcasing their father’s journey over the years, including his time as a young member of the iconic Jackson 5. These photos also captured moments of love and happiness between Tito and his sons Taj, TJ, and Taryll, whom he shared with his late ex-wife Dee Dee Martes.
The exact cause of Tito’s passing has yet to be determined, but it is believed to be an apparent heart attack. According to former Jackson family manager Steve Manning, Tito was driving from New Mexico to Oklahoma at the time of his death.
Born as the third of ten children to Katherine and Joe Jackson, Tito had been performing with his brothers Jackie and Marlon as the Jacksons. They had shows scheduled in Scotland, California, and England during the summer of 2024.
Days before his passing, Tito shared a post on Facebook from Munich, Germany, where he and his brothers visited a memorial dedicated to his late sibling Michael Jackson. The brothers expressed their deep gratitude for this special place that honors not only Michael’s memory but also their shared legacy. Tito wrote, “Thank you for keeping his spirit alive.”
Tito’s musical journey began as an original member of the Jackson Brothers, along with Jermaine and Jackie, under their father’s leadership in 1964. The group later expanded to include Michael and Marlon, becoming the iconic Jackson 5 in 1966. Tito also had a successful solo career, releasing two studio albums, “Tito Time” in 2016 and “Under Your Spell” in 2021.
In addition to his musical endeavors, Tito managed his sons’ band, 3T. Taj, TJ, and Taryll were featured in the 2015 Lifetime reality show “The Jacksons: Next Generation.”
Tito’s passing comes over 15 years after the tragic loss of his brother Michael in 2009. The King of Pop’s death was attributed to acute propofol intoxication, and his physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in 2011 for administering dangerous levels of the anesthetic propofol and other sedatives.
As Tito’s sons navigate this difficult time, they ask everyone to remember their father’s message, “Love One Another.” Let us honor the memory of Tito Jackson by embracing love and unity in our own lives.
