Itโs hard to believe, but if Princess Diana were still with us, she would be celebrating her 63rd birthday. Of course, we haven’t forgotten her, and some of the royal family members think of her often.
This includes Sarah, affectionately known as Fergie. On July 1, she shared a special message to Princess Diana, accompanied by a photo of the two of them watching the Battle of Britain Anniversary Parade in 1990.

In the photo, they stand together on the balcony at Buckingham Palace, smiling as if a flyover has caught their attention. Fergie’s message was heartfelt and touching.
She wrote: โHappy birthday to my dear friend, Diana. You were a pillar of light and love. And what a legacy you have left behind. I will forever remember our laughter and the kindred, kind spirit I found in you.
โI am sure you are watching over us always. Rest in peace, my friend.โ
Diana and Sarah had been friends since their teenage years. They met during childhood and remained close as they grew up and got married.
Thanks to Diana’s friendship, Sarah met Prince Andrew, and they married in 1986. Diana and Sarah were not just friends by then; they were sisters-in-law. Interestingly enough, Diana and King Charles ended their marriage the same year Sarah and Andrew divorced.
Fergie shared a light-hearted memory from an interview: โI said to her, โOh, Andrewโs really good-looking.โ And she said, โDuh, Fergs!’โ
The stress of royal life added to their personal struggles. Sarah admitted they both suffered from mental health challenges and needed each other for support.
Sarah fondly recalls Dianaโs advice: โShe said, โFergie, remember one thing. When youโre at the top of the pedestal, itโs so easy to fall off. And when youโre at the bottom, you just climb up. We were positioned as saint and sinner. The most important thing was to remain strong together, and we did, no matter what anyone wrote.โ
