Mum of Missing Teen Jay Slater Pleads for Help in Locating Son

The mother of 19-year-old Jay Slater is desperately seeking the public’s assistance in finding her missing son. Jay disappeared in a secluded part of Tenerife on Monday morning and hasn’t been heard from since. His mother, Debbie Duncan, flew to Tenerife on Tuesday to join the search efforts.

Jay, who hails from Lancashire, was on a holiday in the Spanish island with two friends when he went missing on June 17th. The teenager had informed a friend that he planned to walk back to his accommodation after missing a bus. This journey was estimated to take approximately 11 hours on foot.

According to Lucy, one of the friends Jay was with, they had been out partying the previous night with a group of new acquaintances. Jay opted to spend time with these new friends and later called Lucy at 8am the next morning to let her know that he was trying to make his way back on foot, as he was unable to catch a bus. His phone battery was almost drained, he needed water, and he didn’t know his location as it was in a remote area.

Unfortunately, Jay’s phone died shortly after the call, leaving his last known location as “the middle of the mountains with nothing around.” He was situated in the Rural de Teno Park, in the north-western part of the island.

Debbie Duncan expressed her concern and frustration during an interview with ITV News, admitting that she regrets encouraging him to go on this trip. She emphasized that there are main roads, bus stops, and cafes in the area, and there were people around who must have seen him. If people haven’t seen him, someone must have taken him. It has been over 48 hours since he had any contact with anyone, leaving his family worried sick and desperate for answers.

Jay Slater was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, shorts, and trainers. The family has reached out to the local authorities, and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has stated that they are in contact with the family and offering support.

Debbie Duncan appeals to the public, asking for any information that could help locate her son. She and her family are determined to find Jay and bring him home safely. The search continues, and their hope remains strong.
