Picture this: My sister and I were just a couple of kids enjoying a camping trip in the woods. Suddenly, we spot this bald man in a blue shirt strolling around with his dog. Harmless, right? Wrong! For some reason, both of us felt our chests tighten in sync—a sixth sense kicking in, maybe.
I snapped a picture of his back (don’t ask why). A little later, we see him near the lake, and he starts questioning us about our tent, even nosing around if our dad would be joining us. Thank goodness we’re quick thinkers—we fibbed about meeting our dad soon and took a detour, hiding behind some bushes. Creepy dude tries to follow, but he misses our hideout and continues on.

Instincts flaring, I told my daughter to ditch her tray and move. We dashed to our car and later found out, through the news, that the man had robbed the store with a gun hidden under that t-shirt. Talk about having a sixth sense!

So, there we were, enjoying a lovely pizza party in a friend’s backyard. Two kids, my husband, another friend, and me—all basking in the sun, the pool, and the perfect day. Out of nowhere, I felt this crazy tension and told the kids, “Get in the house.”

We were 50 to 70 meters deep when this bizarre feeling of being watched crept over us. I tried to shrug it off, but it clung to me like a second skin.
Then we saw it—a white shark, drifting just at the edge of our vision. It came and went in eerie silence, twice. Those were the longest three minutes of my life as we waited for decompression before surfacing.
