Have you ever cracked open an egg to find two yolks inside? It’s a rare occurrence but it does happen. But here’s something even rarer: a farmer from Queensland, Australia, cracked open a large egg to find another intact smaller egg inside. This unique discovery was shared by Scott Stockman of Stockman’s Eggs on Facebook.
The large egg weighed about 6 ounces and was roughly the size of an avocado, much larger than the average 2-ounce egg. Stockman wrote, “One of our Free Range Girls has been working overtime. Check out this whopper! The average egg weighs around 58gms and this beauty came in at 176gms!!!”
Everyone was baffled by this extremely large egg. Stockman said, “I have never seen such a large egg. It has got everyone baffled about why it happened.”
But the mystery didn’t end with the egg’s size. Stockman’s Eggs later shared an image of the giant egg cracked open, revealing something even more surprising – another whole egg inside! People couldn’t believe their eyes – there was an egg within an egg!
Many commented on the large size of the egg, expressing concern for the hen that laid it. Some even joked about the hen having a sore bum from laying such a large egg. Others marveled at the beauty of the egg, while some found it quite terrifying.
People were curious if the large egg contained more than one yolk, given its size. The farm responded that it was a complete freak of nature and they didn’t know why or how it could hold another egg inside.
Many others shared their own experiences with double yolks but had never seen another egg inside. The impressive and mysterious giant egg housing another egg garnered a lot of attention on social media. The farm even took the opportunity to promote their business, thanking their new followers and informing them where they could find their eggs in major supermarkets across the Cairns region.
But amidst all the excitement, there was one question left unanswered – where is the hen that laid this massive egg?
