When you’re a superstar with the clout and status of Kevin Costner, it’s no surprise that fans all over the world are curious about your personal life.
In 2023, Costner went through a major life change with his unexpected divorce from Christine Baumgartner, his wife of nearly twenty years. Since then, rumors have been swirling about the Yellowstone star’s love life. Finally, we have some clarity about how he’s moving on from his previous marriage, and more importantly, who he’s moving on with.
Toward the end of last year, Costner was linked romantically with several high-profile female celebrities. Among the speculation, one potential match-up gained more traction than the others. Costner was first linked with singer Jewel in December, seven months after his split from Baumgartner. Though things have been relatively quiet on that front since then, Elle magazine recently provided an update.
According to reports, Jewel spoke about the rumors regarding herself and the 69-year-old actor. While she didn’t explicitly define their relationship, she fondly spoke of Costner, saying, “He’s a great person. The public fascination is intense for sure.”
In December, fans seeking information about Costner’s love life were given something to hold onto when the star was seen with Jewel at a charity event on Richard Branson’s Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands. Pictures showed Costner with his arms wrapped around Jewel’s waist as she sat on his lap. TMZ reported that the pair had traveled to the Caribbean together but wanted to keep their romance out of the public eye.
Jewel, who shares a 12-year-old son with her ex-husband Ty Murray, went through her own divorce in 2014. She later spoke about the challenges of the divorce, saying, “I think going through a divorce was really hard. It wasn’t what I wanted. I don’t think any parent goes into a relationship and a marriage and having a child thinking of a divorce one day. I don’t know if that’s a regret. One of the reasons I got divorced, though, is when I looked at my child, I realized I wasn’t the woman I wanted him to know. I had to change some things about myself.”
Costner’s divorce from Baumgartner was finalized last year after some back-and-forth in court over child support payments. Baumgartner initially sought $248,000 a month, but the court ordered Costner to pay a much lower sum of $63,209.
