Katie Rose Dugger recently experienced this and took to Facebook to share her story and warn others. A few weeks ago, the bedroom of her son started to smell like fish. Despite her efforts to clean the room thoroughly, the source of the smell remained a mystery. Katie decided to quickly do a Google search to find out the cause of the odor.
To her surprise, the search revealed that a fishy smell could indicate melting plastic from electrical outlets. She soon discovered an overheating outlet that was melting the plugs. Concerned, she immediately called an electrician who uncovered a bad and loose wire in the outlet. The electrician had to replace the entire outlet to resolve the issue.
Katie’s warning carries essential information for all of us regarding the outlets in our homes. If you ever catch a fishy smell and cannot identify the source, it’s crucial to check the outlets and plugs for overheating.
