Celine Dion: Keeping Love Alive

It’s been eight years since Celine Dion lost her husband and manager, Rene Angelil. The superstar singer has made it clear that she’s not ready to move on just yet. Despite persistent rumors about her love life, Celine remains committed to the only man she ever kissed.

Dion and Angelil’s relationship had an unconventional start. They first met when Celine was just 12 years old. At the time, Angelil was 26 years older than her. He became her manager and even remortgaged his house to support her journey to stardom. With his guidance, Celine became one of the greatest vocalists in the world.

In her memoir, Celine Dion: My Story, Mr Dream, Celine admitted to having feelings for her manager. She wrote, “Never dared tell him that I dreamed of him every night.” In 1988, she finally revealed her feelings to Angelil.

They went public with their romance four years later and married in a lavish ceremony in 1994. However, their happiness was cut short when Angelil was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999. After a valiant, near 20-year battle, he passed away in 2016. His death left a void in Celine’s life that can never be filled, and she made it clear that she’s not looking for love.

In an interview with USA Today, Celine said, “I don’t date. I don’t have a boyfriend. It doesn’t mean that I will not find someone in my life. If I do, that would be great. If I don’t, that would be great because I’m still in love.” She sees Angelil through the eyes of their children every day and keeps her heart open to whatever the future holds.

Despite her stance, speculation about Celine’s love life has been rampant. Much attention has been focused on a younger man she has been seen with publicly on multiple occasions. However, Celine clarified that the man, Pepe Muñoz, is a close friend and confidante. She emphasized that he is gay and became her backup dancer in 2017.

“He did so much for me, even just holding my hand. It’s something that I haven’t had for a long time, a hug from a 6’3’’ man… It was wonderful,” Celine said about their friendship.

So, it seems that Celine has not found a new flame in her life. We wish her the best of luck with her ongoing recovery from Stiff Person Syndrome and hope to see her back on stage soon.
