A plumber is receiving widespread admiration for his selfless actions, as it has come to light that he provides services to vulnerable customers without charging them. James Anderson, a 52-year-old plumber, has helped numerous people in need through his not-for-profit company, Depher.
Recently, an act of compassion by James touched the hearts of people worldwide. He recently carried out repairs at the home of a 91-year-old woman suffering from acute leukemia, and when it came time for payment, James presented her with a bill for a grand total of…nothing.
In addition to the bill, James, a father-of-five, stated, “No charge for this lady under any circumstances. We will be available 24 hours to help her and keep her as comfortable as possible.” This gesture exemplifies James’ dedication to helping those in need and ensuring their well-being.
James founded Depher after witnessing an elderly man being mistreated by another engineer. Despite accumulating debts of approximately £8,000 ($9,940), James remains steadfast in his belief that he is fulfilling his purpose. He explains, “To me, debt is debt… I would rather owe some money to somebody and another person be alive and happy and safe.”
Since 2017, James has been providing free or low-cost plumbing services to individuals who cannot afford them. However, he emphasizes that his work extends beyond his own capabilities. James aims to inspire other engineers across the country to join his cause and ensure that elderly and disabled individuals have warm homes and access to proper plumbing repairs.
While James faces challenges in securing funding for his not-for-profit company, he is determined to achieve his goal of eliminating the suffering caused by cold homes and lack of funding for boiler repairs. He firmly believes that no person in this country should face such hardships, especially in the modern age.
