Karen Suffern, a mother from Rocky Mount, N.C., asked her 8-year-old twin children, Ryan and Amber, to write letters to Santa. Little did she know that their responses would surprise her.
In his letter, Ryan asked Santa to put an end to the bullying that his sister Amber faced at school. Instead of asking for toys and games, Ryan’s priority was to protect his sister. His genuine concern for Amber moved his mom and left her in awe.
Ryan’s letter read, “Dear Santa… I wanted a remote control car and helicopter, but I don’t want that anymore. Kids at school are still picking on Amber, and it’s not fair because she doesn’t do anything to them… I prayed that they will stop, but God is busy and needs your help. Is it against the rules to give the gift early?” (Please ignore the cute spelling mistakes!)
In his second wish, Ryan asked Santa to invite their favorite band, Big Time Rush, to Amber’s birthday party. He believed that this would make her happy. Ryan’s love for his sister was evident in every word he wrote.
When Karen shared Ryan’s letter on her Facebook page, it went viral around the world. People were touched by Ryan’s compassion and kindness. The story caught the attention of “Good Morning America,” and they reached out to Karen and her twins.
