Emily in Paris showrunner reveals why he decided to switch location from Paris to Rome

I’m not sure Emily in Rome has the same ring to it

In a twist for fans of the Netflix series, it turns out Emily will no longer be in Paris in the next season of the show. She’s landed a big client in Rome and is moving there along with her charming new boyfriend, Marcello. Sylvie has announced the opening of a new office in Rome, and guess who will lead it? Yes, Emily! Isn’t that thrilling?

The showrunner, Darren Star, has shared his thoughts on why he decided to move Emily from Paris to Rome. Speaking with TVLine, he expressed excitement about exploring new storylines and cultural settings after four seasons in Paris. He wants to “expand the universe of the show” and bring fresh experiences to the audience.

Darren elaborated on the move by saying: “Just when Emily has gotten settled in Paris, she’s suddenly placed in a different country where she will face new cultural differences. We’re excited to explore the contrasts between French and Italian cultures. Plus, this new chapter does not mean we’re leaving Paris behind entirely.”

Emily’s adventures in the season four finale were nothing short of bright. She had a whole new country to look forward to, a new Italian boyfriend, a fantastic job offer, and she was finally done with the drama involving Alfie and Gabriel.

However, just because Emily has moved out of Paris doesn’t mean she’s completely over her Parisian past. Gabriel seemed quite affected by Emily’s heartfelt French voice note, hinting that he might still try to win her back if the show returns for another season. I just can’t get enough of the drama and excitement!
