Historic pregnancy leaves everyone in the delivery room speechless

When Oksana Kobletskaya, from the Ukrainian town of Odessa, discovered she was pregnant, she was overjoyed. The 36-year-old was already a mom to a three-year-old daughter, and she and her husband Sergey were looking forward to welcoming another member to their family.

However, what seemed like a regular pregnancy soon took an astonishing turn that left people around the world gasping in disbelief. Oksana and Sergey had never planned on having a large family; they thought two children would be perfect since they didn’t have the means to support more.

But even in the early stages, Oksana felt that this pregnancy was different. She couldn’t shake the feeling that there was more than one child growing inside her. “No one in our family had ever been pregnant with twins. I was sure I would never experience anything like this,” Oksana told the German news source Heftig.

Little did she know that a far bigger surprise awaited her. During her ultrasound, Oksana noticed the doctor frowning and sensed something extraordinary was about to unfold. “When I saw the shock on the doctor’s face, my heart stopped for a moment,” she recalled. The doctor then mumbled something like, “You deserve to have a big house by the sea…” before revealing, “I can see five fetuses, maybe six. It’s hard to tell.”

Oksana was expecting quintuplets! This is extremely rare, occurring in only 1 in 47,458,321 pregnancies. As she tried to process the news, the doctor ran around the hospital in disbelief. No one there had ever seen anything like it. But for Oksana and Sergey, the news was overwhelming.“It almost felt like a nightmare, as though I would wake up at any moment,” Oksana remembers. They realized that their future plans would have to change drastically to accommodate so many children.

“It takes time to process this kind of news. I mean, how would we manage to take care of so many children?” Sergey wondered.

When Oksana reached her 30th week of pregnancy, she went to the hospital to prepare for the birth. In the delivery room, eight doctors awaited her, treating her with extreme caution. Oksana gave birth via C-section to three boys and two girls. The doctors, prepared for the worst, were thrilled to announce that all five babies, although a bit premature, were healthy and happy.

Babies Daria, Alexandra, Denis, Vladislav, and David became instant celebrities. Today, these historic quintuplets, the first ever born in Ukraine, are three years old, reports The Mirror.

Let’s all celebrate this remarkable family and wish them the best of luck!
