This Hot Water Migraine Trick Can Help Ease Your Headache Without Side Effects

While headaches are painful, migraines are truly in a league of their own. People who suffer from them regularly often feel desperate to find relief. However, common remedies like ibuprofen don’t always work as they do with other headaches. Often, the usual advice is to lie down in a dim room. Surprisingly, a doctor on TikTok has suggested another method: using hot water. Although it might sound unconventional at first, it’s definitely worth a try.

Treat your migraine with this hot water trick

In a popular video, Andrea Eder, a business coach, demonstrates by filling a kettle with water and explains that soaking your feet in “as hot as you can handle” water may relieve a migraine. This might seem too simple, but Dr. Sood, M.D., also known as @doctorsood on TikTok, provides a clear explanation.

Dr. Sood says, “If you suffer from migraine headaches, here’s a hack that has zero side effects and might help – soaking your feet in hot water. But why does this work? This method dilates the blood vessels in your feet, pulling blood away from your head. This action eases the pressure on the blood vessels in your head causing the migraine, ultimately reducing your pain.” While some comments suggest this trick didn’t work for everybody, many appreciated the helpful advice and found relief through this method.
