A tragic event has left a Tennessee community in shock after a young high school cross-country runner unexpectedly lost his life during a routine run in his neighborhood.

Fifteen-year-old Tristen Franklin, who attended Sycamore High School in Pleasant View, was out running on a day like any other when he collapsed. The heartbreaking incident took place about 20 miles northwest of Nashville.

Tim Adkins, the spokesperson for Cheatham County Schools, confirmed this sad news on Wednesday. He shared that Tristen had been at home and running in his neighborhood when he passed away. “Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the student’s family and friends during this difficult time. The impact of such a loss is immeasurable,” Adkins said. The cause of Tristen’s death remains unclear at this time.

Neighbors witnessed teen’s collapse

A neighbor of Tristen, Troy Simpkins, mentioned to WBTV that he often saw Tristen jogging on his typical route in the afternoons, exchanging greetings with him frequently. On that fateful Tuesday, Simpkins saw Tristen running but didn’t suspect anything unusual. It wasn’t until his husband received a call from another neighbor, informing them of Tristen’s collapse, that they realized the gravity of the situation.
