Mariah Carey Opens Up About The Tragic Day She Lost Both Her Mother And Her Sister

We often imagine that celebrities live charmed lives without any serious problems. However, a closer look at their lives reveals that they experience as many, if not more, challenges as the rest of us.

This is certainly true for Mariah Carey, who recently faced a tragic turn of events. Mariah confirmed the heartbreaking news that she lost both her mother, Patricia, and her sister, Alison, on the same day.

Mariah shared her sorrow: “My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Tragically, my sister also lost her life on the same day.

“I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed. I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”

Currently, no further details have been provided regarding the circumstances of their deaths. We’ll have to wait to see if more information will be released.

Back in 2020, Mariah released her memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey. She wrote: “Like many aspects of my life, my journey with my mother has been full of contradictions and conflicting emotions. It’s never been just black-and-white — it’s been a whole spectrum of feelings.”

Mariah credits her mother for her singing talents, but acknowledges their complicated relationship. She expressed:

“Our relationship is a prickly rope of pride, pain, shame, gratitude, jealousy, admiration and disappointment.

“A complicated love tethers my heart to my mother’s.”

Her mother was also included in the dedication of her memoir, where Mariah wrote: “And to Pat, my mother, who, through it all, I do believe actually did the best she could.

“I will love you the best I can, always.”
