Luke, a courageous and inspiring man from Grimsby, has left a lasting impact on people from all around the world through his YouTube channel, I Will Not Be Defeated. At the age of 35, Luke tragically lost his battle with Leiomyosarcoma, an uncommon cancer that affects only 0.17 percent of all cancers found each year.
Defying All Odds
Initially given a life expectancy of only 12 months, Luke fought valiantly and surpassed all expectations. He underwent multiple rounds of chemotherapy, showing incredible strength and determination. Even when his oncologist informed him last year that he had just a few months left to live, Luke proved them wrong once again. On August 2, Luke peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Leaving a Lasting Legacy
Luke is survived by his loving wife Beckey, their two children Taylor, five, and Scarlett, three, as well as his mother Lisa, father Brian, and many other loved ones. Throughout his journey, Luke shared his experiences and emotions with his followers, even on his last video titled “Death,” released on July 18. He expressed his gratitude for the support he received and assured everyone that he was “still alive and kicking.”
A Source of Inspiration
Luke’s immense strength and positivity were evident to all who watched his videos. Despite the challenges he faced, he remained determined to improve his mental health and stay strong. Luke candidly shared his ups and downs, including his struggles with breathing and his time spent in bed battling a chest infection. Through it all, he never gave up, inspiring countless others to do the same.
A Fighter Until the End
Luke’s mother Lisa and his wife Beckey spoke fondly of him, describing him as kind, loyal, and funny. Throughout his two-year battle with cancer, Luke constantly searched for information to better understand his condition. He became an advocate for himself and others, vowing not to let the disease defeat him. Despite the toll chemotherapy took on his health, Luke’s positive attitude and unwavering determination gave his family more precious time together.
Love and Selflessness
Luke’s love and concern for others were unparalleled. He constantly put the needs of his loved ones before his own, even in the midst of his own suffering. Whether he was organizing charity events to raise awareness for cancer or pushing through excruciating pain to participate in his children’s activities, Luke’s selflessness knew no bounds. He was a true hero in every sense of the word.
Remembering Luke’s Legacy
Luke’s funeral service will be held at Grimsby Minster on August 23 at 11 a.m. The family invites everyone to dress in a way that reflects Luke’s vibrant personality, whether it be a suit or attire from “Luke’s Army.” In honor of Luke, one-piece suits are also recommended. Following the service, a private family gathering will take place at The Pear Tree. Flowers can be ordered through Co-op Funeralcare, Abbey Road at 01472 355707.
Luke may no longer be with us, but his spirit and strength will live on as an inspiration to us all. Let us remember and honor our hero, Luke, whose legacy will forever touch our hearts.
