This is exactly what happened to Josie, who felt utterly shattered when her son betrayed her trust. Josie, a devoted mother, decided to give her house to her son and his young wife so they could comfortably start a family. But things took a turn that Josie never expected in a million years. She shared her story with us and sought advice on what to do next.
Here’s her story:
I live alone in a cozy 3-bedroom house. My son, who recently got married, kept mentioning that it was the perfect home to start a family. Wanting to help them, I decided to give them my house and move in with my widowed sister.
However, yesterday, my son called to tell me that his mother-in-law would be moving in with them. I was taken aback and said, “I didn’t leave my home for your mother-in-law to live with you.”
To my shock, my daughter-in-law confessed, “We lied about starting a family right away. We’re not ready yet; we’re too young.” She added, “But my mom is alone. Now that we have this big house, she will come live with us.”
I was furious. I didn’t agree to this arrangement. I reminded her that it is still technically my house.
My son then said, “My mother-in-law needs our help more than you do. She’s family too now, and I have to take care of her.”
