Katy Perry took to social media to express her sadness over the loss of her manager, Martin Kirkup. In a touching Instagram post, the 39-year-old singer shared photos of herself with Martin, paying tribute to his memory. Despite Martin’s aversion to social media, Katy felt compelled to write about his significance in her life.
“It took me a while to make this post… something about posting it makes it all feel final,” Katy wrote on Instagram. She continued, “I don’t think anyone really ‘dies.’ I think they just go to the next world. They’re no longer here; they’re everywhere now.”
Martin Kirkup had been one of Katy’s bosses at Direct Management for nearly 20 years. Known for his love of data and facts, Martin played a crucial role in Katy’s career. “He helped keep me safe,” Katy said. “He worked hard to get me what I deserved and praised the strong woman I am.”
Katy expressed her gratitude for her amazing team that has supported her for almost two decades. She credited Martin and her other managers for fighting tirelessly to ensure her voice was heard. Martin had the opportunity to listen to Katy’s new music shortly before his passing, leaving her with a sense of pride and appreciation for their last shared moment.
Ending her note, Katy reminisced about Martin’s lively personality. “We didn’t get to physically say goodbye, but I know he knows how much respect and admiration I have for him,” she wrote. Martin is survived by his wife Lale Kirkup, daughter Melisa Kirkup Blatt, son John Kirkup, and his three grandchildren.
No More Idol

Katy’s departure from the show will allow her to explore new musical endeavors. She teased her fans about a potential new album and shared her excitement about performing at the upcoming Rock in Rio music festival in Brazil. “Everyone around the world is excited, but my fans in Brazil are especially thrilled,” she exclaimed.
As Katy’s fans eagerly anticipate new music, they continue to support her career moves. A recent Instagram post from Katy hinted at her upcoming projects, with the singer posing in a stunning black dress adorned with silver butterfly pins, a symbol that has appeared in some of her music videos.
