His wife, Susanne Kellermann, shared the heartbreaking news in an interview with the German newspaper Bild. Wepper peacefully passed away in a hospice in Munich in the early hours of Monday morning after bravely battling a long illness for several weeks.
Wepper’s incredible journey in the entertainment industry began at a young age. At just 11 years old, he showcased his talent in a production of “Peter Pan.” Born in Munich in 1941, he went on to receive widespread acclaim for his role as a young soldier in the anti-war film “Die Brücke” (1959), which earned a Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film. The talented actor was married twice and had two daughters with each wife. His first wife, Angela von Morgen, whom he married in 1979, collaborated with him on the crime show “Mord in bester Gesellschaft” from 2007 to 2017. However, their relationship faced challenges, and in 2009 he left Von Morgen for his current wife, Susanne Kellermann. Eventually, he reconciled with Von Morgen before her passing in 2019, and a year later, Wepper married Kellermann.
Wepper’s legacy extends beyond his own achievements. His oldest daughter Sophie, who is now 42 years old, followed in her father’s footsteps and pursued a career in acting. She had the opportunity to work alongside her father in “Mord in bester Gesellschaft,” a testament to their strong bond both on and off-screen.
