Shannen Doherty, well-known star of US television, has recently made some shocking allegations against her estranged ex-husband, Kurt Iswarienko. She claims that he is intentionally “waiting for her to die” to avoid paying spousal support. These allegations have come to light amidst their ongoing divorce battle.
Shannen Doherty has been battling terminal cancer and is bravely fighting against her deteriorating health while also addressing the financial aspects of her divorce. She believes that Kurt’s behavior has slowed down the process of receiving the spousal support she is entitled to.
Shannen first announced her breast cancer diagnosis in 2015, and in the subsequent years, it spread to her lymph nodes, requiring her to undergo numerous medical procedures, including a mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. In 2017, she revealed that her cancer was in remission, but unfortunately, in 2020, she announced that it had returned and reached Stage 4, spreading to her brain and bones.
According to court documents obtained by People Magazine, Shannen has expressed her concerns about Kurt’s financial status. She stated, “It is simply not right that Kurt be permitted to prolong our divorce in hopes that I die before he is required to pay me while he continues to live his life and shirk his responsibilities to his dying wife of more than 11 years.”
Kurt’s lawyer has responded to these allegations, asserting that he offered a settlement last year to reach a resolution, but Shannen denied it. His attorney clarified, “Kurt is not ‘simply wait[ing] for Shannen to die. He wants the best for Shannen, and he wants both of them to be able to put this case behind them and move forward.”
The couple divorced in April 2023 after being together for 11 years. Shannen has claimed that she refused his initial offer because it did not address certain issues related to Kurt’s works created during their marriage and his earning capacity. In her court filings, she has requested $15,434 per month in spousal support, citing the potential loss of her SAG health insurance due to her inability to work.
Shannen’s legal team argues that Kurt’s average income over the past three years amounts to $672,916, which means he has a monthly spendable income of “at least” $56,076. They believe that this should cover the spousal support she is seeking.
In addition, Shannen admitted that the residuals she receives for her appearance on the TV show “Charmed” have been decreasing. She also expressed her concern that Kurt has been spending money on luxuries like flights, medical spas, and high-end stores while claiming to have insufficient funds to support her.
It is important to note that these are allegations made by Shannen Doherty, and representatives for Kurt Iswarienko have not yet provided any comment on the matter.
