Remembering Saoírse Ruane: An Inspiration to Us All

It is with heavy hearts that we share the devastating news of the passing of Saoírse Ruane, a brave and incredible young girl who captured the hearts of people across the nation. Saoírse, from Galway, fought a courageous battle against a rare form of bone cancer, inspiring us all with her strength and resilience.

Saoírse’s journey began in November 2019 when she was diagnosed with cancer after complaining of an injured ankle. Despite undergoing treatments and having her leg amputated, the cancer spread, and she faced numerous challenges along the way. Her unwavering determination and indomitable spirit touched the lives of countless individuals.

When Saoírse appeared on The Late Late Toy Show in 2020, her story resonated with viewers nationwide. We were all captivated by her bravery, and she will forever remain in our hearts. Saoírse’s parents, Roseanna and Ollie, and her little sister Farrah-Rose, are devastated by the loss of their beloved daughter.

In their own words, Saoírse’s family shared, “After a long, brave, and dignified battle, our hearts are shattered to tell you that our beautiful little Saoírse took her last breath in our arms on Tuesday.” They expressed gratitude to all the supporters who stood by them during the past weeks and acknowledged the immense impact Saoírse had on so many lives.

The heartbreaking reality of cancer is that it not only takes away our loved ones but also shatters our dreams and the life we once knew.
