Once upon a time, a man and his wife found themselves pondering about their son’s future. As they sat together, the father had a brilliant idea. He arranged a ten-dollar bill, a bottle of whiskey, and a Bible on the coffee table. Each item represented a different path their son could take in life.
“If he takes the money,” the father mused, “he’ll become a banker.”
The wife nodded, contemplating the possibilities. “And if he takes the whiskey,” she added, “he’ll be a drunk…”
Interrupting her, the father finished, “And if he takes the Bible, that means he’ll become a preacher.”
Curiosity piqued, the couple decided to hide and observe their son’s actions when he returned home. They eagerly waited to see which item their son would choose, as it might reveal his future calling.
With a carefree stroll, their son entered the room. His eyes caught sight of the coffee table, where the three items lay in wait. He approached, considered the ten-dollar bill, and then gently placed it back down.
Next, he picked up the bottle of whiskey, uncorked it, took a whiff, and carefully placed it back on the table.
The couple exchanged glances, wondering about the significance of their son’s choices. They watched with bated breath as their child reached for the Bible. He thumbed through its pages, then gently set it down.
Their son, with a mischievous grin on his face, swiftly pocketed the ten-dollar bill. He seized the bottle of whiskey, firmly grasping it, and to the surprise of his parents, tucked the Bible securely under his arm.
“Well, well,” the father exclaimed, a mix of astonishment and amusement in his voice, “it seems he’s destined to be a politician!”
The room filled with laughter as the parents imagined the future endeavors and adventures their son would embark on.
