A Lifelong Love Journey

Sally and her husband Richard had a love story that many admired. They were deeply in love with each other, and after two years of dating, they got married at a young age. Their happiness was immeasurable.

But one day, everything changed. Richard disappeared without a trace. He had no family to turn to, as he was an orphan. Sally was devastated. She searched for him tirelessly for many years, seeking help from the authorities. Each passing year, she clung to the hope that Richard would return to her.

During these difficult times, there were other men who tried to win Sally’s heart. But her love for Richard remained unwavering. She longed for her husband’s return, and rejected all other suitors. Among her friends, Jake stood by her side, offering his unwavering support and care. Although grateful for Jake’s kindness, Sally couldn’t help but feel guilty for not being able to move on.

To distract herself from the pain, Sally poured her energy into her career as an engineer. She excelled and rose through the ranks, taking on projects that required her to travel across the country. One Sunday, as she arrived early at her destination, she decided to attend a local church service.

As Sally made her way towards the exit after the service, a familiar voice stopped her in her tracks. She turned around and saw Richard. He, too, had noticed Sally and their eyes met.

“Honey, are you okay? Are we leaving?” a woman next to Richard asked, breaking the silence.

“Yeah, you go ahead. I just wanted to say hi to Mr. Jenkins,” Richard said, his words trembling.

“Okay, I’ll wait for you in the car,” the woman replied as she walked away. Richard approached Sally, his voice barely a whisper, “Not here. Meet me in an hour at Tom’s Cafe, on River Street, at 6 o’clock.”

An hour later, Sally arrived at the cafe, her heart racing with a mix of anticipation and uncertainty. Richard was already there, waiting for her. “I know you want an explanation. I owe you that much,” he began.

Richard confessed that before Sally, he had a high school sweetheart named Megan. They were together for seven years before deciding to go their separate ways. But even after marrying Sally, Richard discovered that he was still in love with Megan.
“You mean to tell me that you never remarried and waited for me all these years?” Sally asked, her voice filled with disbelief.

“I did. I’m so sorry, Sally,” Richard replied, regret evident in his eyes.

As Sally returned home, she called Jake and invited him to dinner. It was time for her to face the reality of her situation and make a decision about her future.
