Emma Stone ‘would like’ to be called by her real name

Stage names are quite common in the entertainment industry. However, it’s not often that someone drops their stage name and asks to be referred to by their legal name. But that’s exactly what Emma Stone wants.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the talented actress and two-time Oscar winner revealed that she actually prefers to go by her given name, Emily. Yes, you read that right!

Her legal name is Emily, but when she got her SAG card, she had to use the name Emma because there was already another actress named “Emily Stone” in the union. It’s understandable why she chose to go by Emma at the time, but now she’s ready to embrace her true name.

During the interview, Stone mentioned that a few years ago, she reached a point where she couldn’t take being called Emma anymore. Surprisingly, most of her friends and acquaintances already called her Emily. She had just had enough and decided to make the change.

It’s quite ironic because, as Stone shared, there was a time when she was in second grade and wanted to be called Emma. This was because her favorite Spice Girl was Baby Spice, whose real name is Emma Bunton. Back then, little Emily wanted to be like her idol and took on the name Emma.

But things have changed, and the 35-year-old actress now wants people, including her fans, to call her by her given name, Emily. It’s a small request, but it would mean a lot to her.

So let’s respect Emma Stone’s wishes and start referring to her as Emily from now on. After all, it’s her real name, and it’s what she prefers.
