Puppy Found in Breeder’s Trash Can, Given a Second Chance

In a heartwrenching incident, a breeder callously discarded a puppy with medical issues, leaving it to die. Thankfully, a miracle occurred, and the puppy was discovered and given a new lease on life.

Puppy found in breeder's trash can, left to die due to medical defects — now he's getting a second chance

According to a post by Mac’s Mission, a dog rescue organization in Jackson, Missouri, a kind-hearted visitor went to the breeder’s facility looking to purchase puppies. While there, she noticed a sick and weak French bulldog puppy fighting for survival.

The puppy suffered from an umbilical hernia and a heart murmur, conditions that the breeder deemed unacceptable and promptly discarded the innocent creature. Recognizing the puppy’s dire state, the visitor rescued it from the trash and sought help at a nearby shelter. The breeder was reported for this heartless act, and the puppy was then transferred to Mac’s Mission, where it received immediate veterinary care.

Upon arrival at Mac’s Mission, the puppy, now named Oscar, was diagnosed with a severe upper respiratory infection, low blood sugar, a high white blood cell count, and extreme malnourishment. The rescue team wasted no time in administering antibiotics and committed to nursing him back to health.

Reflecting on this heartbreaking incident, the rescue organization expressed their disbelief and anger, questioning how someone could discard a helpless animal in such a callous manner. They emphasized their dedication to rescuing animals with severe medical conditions or special needs and vowed to fight for these lost causes.

Despite initially showing signs of recovery, Oscar faced a setback when his heart murmur worsened from grade 2 to grade 4/5 out of 6, according to rescue founder Rochelle Steffen. Undeterred, the team remained hopeful and leaned on their supporters to meet the mounting medical expenses.

Thanks to the generosity of their donors, Mac’s Mission stated that Oscar would be placed in an overnight foster home and would receive a thorough evaluation from a cardiologist to determine the best course of action for his heart defect.

The story of Oscar’s resilience and the unconditional love he received at Mac’s Mission leaves us both heartbroken and hopeful. It is disheartening to think that he was callously thrown away and left for dead. However, we take solace in knowing that he is now in caring hands and has a chance to overcome his medical challenges.

Please help us share this extraordinary story of survival and hope. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these innocent animals. ❤️
