Sen. Fetterman: DC Lawmakers “Not Sending Their Brightest”

Sen. John Fetterman is known for his casual attire and his inability to complete sentences due to a stroke. During a late-night talk show appearance, host Stephen Colbert asked him about the awkwardness of seeing people he had made fun of in memes around the Capitol. Fetterman responded by saying that America is not sending its best and brightest to Washington, D.C., and it’s actually quite scary.

Fetterman also mocked his colleagues who value propriety and the dress code in the Senate. He believes that the situation in Ukraine is more important than what he or anyone else wears in the Senate chamber. He criticized House Republicans for allegedly harming Israel by attempting to replace the Speaker of the House. Fetterman vows to stand with both Israel and Ukraine, supporting them militarily, intelligence-wise, and humanitarianly.

Not surprisingly, Fetterman’s comments received a lot of criticism. Former Gov. Mike Huckabee saw his remarks as unintentionally speaking the truth about himself. Meanwhile, Joe Concha pointed out that Fetterman has never held a job in the real world. And Benny Johnson questioned whether Fetterman realized that he was included in his own statement about not sending the brightest to D.C.
