Katy Perry had a close call with a wardrobe malfunction during the live episode of American Idol. Just before Roman Collins was about to perform James Brown’s “It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World,” Perry’s futuristic top broke. Thankfully, she managed to avoid the mishap. During the episode, Perry, known for her hit song “Daisies,” was wearing a custom silver metallic top designed by Kate Barton. However, the top gave her some difficulties. As one of the Top 14 hopefuls performed, Perry clapped and her top burst open in the back.
“I need my top to stay on,” Perry expressed in a behind-the-scenes video shared on her Instagram. “If it’s not fixed, this show is going to get more than it wanted.”
The crew quickly tried to fix Perry’s top, with Luke Bryan stepping in to help. However, despite their efforts, it seemed impossible to remedy the situation. With no other choice, Perry knelt behind the judge’s table and covered herself with a pillow to maintain her modesty.
As Perry concealed herself, both Bryan and Lionel Richie jokingly exclaimed, “Ratings! Here we come, ratings!”
