Janisse’s Birthday Drama

Birthdays have always been a special occasion for Janisse. When her husband Carl’s birthday was approaching, she wanted to plan a fancy dinner at home to celebrate him with their loved ones. However, her mother-in-law, Sally, had a different idea in mind, and things quickly turned sour.

Janisse and Sally were busy in the kitchen, preparing for the birthday dinner. As the afternoon went on, Sally seemed to be upset about something. Janisse asked her what was wrong, and that’s when Sally mentioned she couldn’t find the ingredients to make the cookies she always made for Carl’s birthday.

Janisse tried to reassure Sally, mentioning that they had plenty of desserts and a cake to celebrate. She suggested doing the cookie tradition on another day. But Sally insisted that it was important to her and a tradition she had started when Carl was just three years old. She asked Janisse to go to the grocery store and get the ingredients.

Normally, Janisse would have said no, as there was still so much to do and she wanted to finish setting the table and get ready herself. However, she understood the importance of the tradition to Sally and decided to run to the store.

Janisse quickly gathered the ingredients, wanting to be back in time for Sally to bake the cookies and finish the preparations. She felt like a superhero, thinking she was participating in this special birthday tradition.

But her excitement didn’t last for long. As soon as she arrived home, Carl stormed out of the house, accusing Janisse of leaving his mother alone to do everything and ruining his birthday bash. Janisse was confused and hurt by the accusations.

Inside the house, Janisse found Sally nowhere to be seen. She continued setting the table and clearing up the kitchen as the guests started to arrive. Feeling disheartened, Janisse quickly went to shower and change, hoping to make things right.

In the shower, Janisse couldn’t help but question what had happened. Why was she being blamed for something that felt like a soap opera plot? What had she missed while she was at the store? After getting dressed, she returned to the patio to greet the guests and reheat the food. However, Carl avoided her, only shooting her dirty looks, while Sally completely ignored her.

Later, Janisse discovered that Sally had intentionally orchestrated the drama. There was no cookie tradition; it was all a ploy to make herself the hero and Janisse the villain. Even during the birthday cake moment, Sally took the spotlight, singing to Carl.

After the guests left and Sally went to bed, Janisse tried to explain everything to Carl. He initially didn’t want to listen, refusing to believe that his mother would do something like that. However, karma had other plans. Sally accidentally sent a message to Carl, confessing her mastermind plan. This revelation made Carl realize the truth.

Carl confronted Sally, and it was revealed that she disliked Janisse because of their differing views on religion and family. The whole drama was simply a way for her to exert control. Eventually, Carl and Janisse forgave Sally, but Janisse made it clear that they would be celebrating future birthdays without any drama.

Janisse promised Carl a trip to Bali for his next birthday, just the two of them, free from friends, family, and any unnecessary drama. While she still isn’t convinced that Sally truly likes her or is completely over the episode, she has agreed to try her best to maintain civility.

That was the story of Carl’s birthday drama. Have you had any dramatic experiences with your in-laws?
