Richard Gere, the renowned actor known for his roles in movies like “Pretty Woman” and “Primal Fear,” now takes pride in being the loving father of a young man who resembles him strikingly. Homer James Jigme Gere, Richard’s oldest son, is the child he shares with his former wife, actress Carey Lowell.
Richard’s first marriage was to supermodel Cindy Crawford, and one of the reasons they separated in 1995 was because Richard didn’t want children. However, life had other plans for him. In February 2000, Richard welcomed Homer with his then-girlfriend Carey Lowell.
Homer, named after Richard’s father, quickly became the center of Richard’s world. Richard and Carey got married when Homer was three years old, and Richard couldn’t have been happier. He described his son as smart, funny, and a lover of music. Richard cherished his role as a father and declared Homer as the joy of his life.
While Richard and Carey have kept their younger sons out of the spotlight, Homer has made a few public appearances. One such occasion was when he accompanied his father to the red carpet of the Giffoni Film Festival in Italy in 2014.
Homer is a bright young man and currently a student at the prestigious Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where he has been studying Cognitive Neuroscience and Visual Arts at the School of Public Health since 2019. He is also working as a research assistant at the university and is expected to graduate in 2024. Although Homer is not very active on social media, his Facebook page suggests that he last posted in 2018.
Homer’s parents’ divorce was finalized in 2016. The custody battle over Homer and the division of Richard’s substantial estate, estimated at around $250 million, began years before the divorce. Ultimately, they agreed to share custody of Homer, who maintains a close relationship with both his mother and father.
Following the divorce, Homer was spotted enjoying a beach vacation in Italy with his father and Richard’s future wife, Alejandra Silva. The trio appeared to be relaxed and on friendly terms.
At the age of 18, Homer went from being an only child to being a big brother when his father married a political activist, 33 years his junior. In February 2019, Homer welcomed his first baby brother, Alexander. The family photographs taken during their leisure time capture a harmonious atmosphere, with Richard and Homer working out together while Alejandra cares for the newest addition to their family.
Homer’s second baby brother was born in 2020, yet his parents have kept the details, including his name, private. Thus, very little is known about the two younger Gere boys, who are now toddlers.
