Wynona Judd’s 27-year-old daughter, Grace Kelley, has found herself in a bit of trouble. On April 5, she was taken into custody in Alabama for an unexpected crime. Let’s dive into the details of what happened and why she was arrested.
According to police records, Grace Kelley was booked at Elmore County Jail around 5 p.m. She is facing charges of indecent exposure and obstructing governmental operations, both of which are misdemeanors. Her bond was set at $1,000, and as of Tuesday afternoon, she remains in jail.
The incident took place at the intersection of Interstate 65 and Highway 14 in Millbrook, Alabama. It is Kelley’s current city of residence. Witnesses reported that Kelley exposed her breasts and lower body while sitting on the roadside. When the police approached her, she refused to show her identification, leading to her arrest. Her court date has been scheduled for April 11.
This is not the first time that Kelley has had a brush with the law. In 2016, she was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and served 30 days in jail. She was also ordered to attend a court-mandated drug recovery program, but she left before completing it. As a result, she was sentenced to spend 8 years in the West Tennessee State Penitentiary.
Kelley’s release on parole in November 2019 was short-lived, as she was arrested again in 2021 for probation violation. She was subsequently released in December 2022 but violated her parole once again in May 2023. It wasn’t until October 2023 that she was finally released from prison.
In March 2022, Kelley gave birth to her daughter Kaliyah Chanel while on a leave of absence from jail. During this time, her 59-year-old mother, Wynona Judd, took care of her. The birth of her granddaughter brought some solace to Wynona, who was dealing with the grief of her mother Naomi Judd’s recent passing.
Wynona spoke fondly of her granddaughter, saying that Kaliyah gave her hope and was a welcome distraction from her own troubles. She also joked that Kaliyah didn’t care about her appearance, bringing some lightheartedness into their lives.
Unfortunately, Wynona Judd passed away from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in April 2022 at the age of 76. Just one day after her death, both she and Wynona were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
