Sajak made the announcement of his departure in June 2023, stating, “Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last. It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all.”
Ryan Seacrest was announced as Sajak’s replacement in June 2023, expressing his admiration for the legendary host, saying, “I’m truly humbled to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak. I can say, along with the rest of America, that it’s been a privilege and pure joy to watch Pat and Vanna on our television screens for an unprecedented 40 years, making us smile every night and feel right at home with them.”
Deadline has now confirmed that Sajak’s final episode, serving as the Season 41 finale, has been taped. While Sajak will no longer be the host of the show, Vanna White will continue to grace our screens on Wheel of Fortune. However, fans can find solace in the fact that Sajak has agreed to serve as a consultant on the show for the next three years.
Taking over as the host of Wheel of Fortune from Chuck Woolery in 1981, Sajak has enjoyed an incredible 40-plus years at the helm of the show. His remarkable contributions have earned him 19 Daytime Emmy Award nominations.
