Elton John’s Candid Words About Michael Jackson

When you’ve lived as long as Elton John has and spent the majority of your years in the public eye, chances are you’ve got a story or two to tell. And if you’re a celebrity like Elton John, there’s no escaping the curiosity of the public.

In his memoir, Me, Elton John delves into his encounters with various celebrities, and one story that has caught the attention of many is his thoughts on the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

Elton recalls meeting a young Michael when he was just a teenager, describing him as “the most adorable kid you could imagine.” However, as the years went by, Elton witnessed a change in Michael that he attributes to his seclusion from the world and a reliance on prescription drugs.

Elton doesn’t hold back in expressing his concern, saying, “God knows what was going on in his head, and God knows what prescription drugs he was being pumped full of.” The legendary singer believes that Michael had lost touch with reality and suffered from mental illness.

It’s no secret that Michael Jackson’s later years were overshadowed by controversy, particularly allegations of sexual abuse against minors. Elton acknowledges that Michael had difficulty relating to adults and coping with their company.

Elton John, now 75, has faced his fair share of health issues. In fact, he had to postpone and reschedule many dates on his farewell tour, Farewell Yellow Brick Road, to prioritize his recovery. Recent reports suggested that Elton declined an offer to perform at King Charles’s coronation concert, although he made a memorable appearance at Princess Diana’s funeral with his heartfelt rendition of Candle in the Wind.
