Katie Couric Becomes a Grandma: Warm Welcome for the Newest Addition

It’s time to celebrate! Katie Couric, the former Today show co-host, has officially become a grandmother. She joyfully took to Instagram to announce the arrival of her grandson. Her daughter, Ellie Dobrosky, 32, gave birth to a healthy baby boy.

Katie shared the heartwarming moment on her website, stating, “On Saturday at 8:23 a.m., I officially became a grandmother.” The excitement was palpable as they rushed to the hospital, with her son-in-law Mark sending a text along the way, exclaiming, “It’s a boy!”

With anticipation building, Katie, her husband, and her daughter Carrie waited eagerly in the waiting room, overflowing with joy and excitement. And finally, the moment arrived. They were welcomed into the room to meet the new family of three, and their happiness knew no bounds.

The little bundle of joy, named John Albert Dobrosky, arrived on his due date, weighing just shy of seven pounds. Katie shared numerous precious snapshots of the newborn and his doting parents, grandparents, and aunt on her Instagram.

But what’s the story behind his unique name? Katie explained, “The Johns in Ellie’s life inspired his first name – her father, grandfather, uncle, and stepfather. And Jay, derived from his maternal grandfather, adds an extra special touch. Albert, on the other hand, pays homage to Mark’s paternal grandfather.”

Back in December, Katie first unveiled the wonderful news of Ellie’s pregnancy. Before attending a Taylor Swift concert together, Ellie and her sister Carrie sat their mother down for a heart-to-heart. In an endearing gesture, they exchanged friendship bracelets (a popular tradition at Swift’s shows) and gifted their mother a bracelet that read “Granny to be.”

Katie was overjoyed but had to keep the secret under wraps for several months before sharing it with her fans on Instagram. Now that the wait is over, let’s congratulate Ellie and Mark on their beautiful new addition to the family!
