The ongoing saga surrounding Kate Middleton’s surgery and subsequent recovery has left many in the dark. While everyone seems to have an opinion, only a select few know the full details of what has transpired. Even some members of Kate’s family, including Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have been intentionally kept out of the loop regarding her health woes.
A recent article by PEOPLE Magazine claims that there is a lack of trust between Prince William and Kate on one side, and Prince Harry and Meghan on the other. This is hardly surprising given the strained relations between the two couples since Harry and Meghan moved to the US.
Earlier this week, we reported that Meghan had been in contact with Kate amidst the storm of speculation surrounding her abdominal procedure in January. While Meghan and Kate may not see eye to eye these days, one royal expert has stated that Meghan has reached out to her sister-in-law.
Royal expert and author Tom Quinn said, “It’s definitely a good time for Meghan to try to build bridges with her sister-in-law, and there has been some contact. However, it has been formal rather than sisterly, and there is always the problem that Meghan can’t be trusted.”
It appears that while Harry and Meghan are still on speaking terms with the Royal Family, they are not as close as they were expected to be. According to an insider, they are aware of everything happening back in England but are being excluded from any details regarding Kate. The source revealed, “There is clearly no trust.”
Relations between Harry and Meghan and the British monarchy have significantly soured in recent years. Their revealing interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021 and Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” published in 2023, have widened the divide between the couple and the rest of the royal family.
“It would be the normal run of things to go and see your sister-in-law who’s had a serious operation and also see your niece and nephews. However, it isn’t normal. It’s terribly sad,” a source close to the royal household shared with PEOPLE.
As for Kate, attention has now shifted to her potential return to official royal engagements. Kensington Palace previously announced that the Princess would resume her duties after Easter, although no specific date has been given.
