A Vibrant Little Girl, Struck by Tragedy
When Zoey was just three years old, her world turned upside down. This vivacious and lively child, always on the go like any other kid her age, was suddenly faced with a devastating illness. Growing up in a loving home, Zoey brought joy and affection to everyone around her.
One day, while playing, Zoey tripped and lost control of both hands. Concerned, her family immediately rushed her to the hospital, hoping for answers and a way to help their precious daughter. The news they received would forever change their lives.
Zoey was diagnosed with DIPG, an extremely rare and aggressive brain tumor. It felt like a death sentence for the young girl who had so much life and love to give. Her parents, Casey and Ben, felt lost and helpless, unsure of what steps to take next.
A Journey Filled with Love and Strength
Despite the devastating diagnosis, Zoey’s family remained strong, determined to be resilient for their little girl. Over the following two years, Zoey underwent numerous cancer treatments, including finding a radiation therapy facility abroad in Germany where she showed positive progress. But sadly, her condition eventually worsened, and unthinkable things were about to unfold.
On July 4, 2018, in the comfort of her American home, Zoey peacefully passed away, surrounded by her loving family. It was a heartbreaking moment for her parents, but they found solace in knowing that they had the chance to create beautiful last memories together.
Cherishing Precious Moments
In a bittersweet act of bravery, Zoey’s mother, Casey, decided to share one of their final moments as a family on Facebook. Through this, she hopes to showcase the love and beauty that permeated their lives, despite the pain they endured. The poignant picture captures the loving embrace of Zoey’s parents, sitting on the couch alongside their family dog. They spent the day together singing Disney songs and watching a Harry Potter movie as a sense of peace enveloped them. And in that peacefulness, Zoey quietly slipped away.
Casey shared, “I wanted a photo like that taken. I wanted those moments captured so I can remember them forever, even when my brain is gone.”
Spreading Light and Love
Casey and her family are on a mission to spread hope and light to the world in honor of Zoey. Through the Facebook page, “Zoey’s Light,” they aim to inspire others to help one another and approach each day with love and gratitude. Zoey’s light may have vanished, but her spirit lives on, encouraging us to cherish the ordinary moments that make life extraordinary.

Zoey’s journey was one filled with love, strength, and unimaginable pain. No parent should have to endure the heartbreak that Zoey’s family faced. Casey and Ben have shown incredible strength and love as parents, and their prayers for Zoey will continue forever.
