One day, Winifred went to withdraw some money from an ATM. As she stood there, protecting her PIN, she noticed someone approaching from behind. Before she could react, two men grabbed her, throwing her off balance. A third man emerged, and one of them tried to withdraw £200 from her account.
But Winifred was not about to become a victim. With lightning-fast reflexes, she grabbed one of the men by his collar and slammed his head into the ATM. She struck him three times with all her might, forcing the robbers to flee in fear.
Winifred acted swiftly, calling the police to report the incident. Thanks to her actions, the assailants were apprehended later that day. The police were able to identify them easily, as one of the men had sustained a head wound from Winifred’s defensive maneuver. Piper Dumitru, Florin Gebelscu, and Felix Stoica were all found guilty in court based on their confessions and were subsequently jailed.
Reflecting on the incident, Winifred expressed how her life has been forever changed. “They did not care about how this would affect me,” she said. “I will never have the confidence I once did.” Despite her shaken confidence, Winifred’s strength and determination, developed from growing up with three brothers and maintaining a regular gym routine, enabled her to stand up against the robbers.
